About Ray

Ray has been involved in church administration, leadership, as a youth pastor, a senior pastor, a worship pastor, and evangelist for most of his adult life. He has attended bible college at Beacon University in Columbus, GA and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. He was saved at fourteen and was seeking for freedom from religious pressure even at that age.

Through the early 90's Ray promoted several mass crusades for Sonrise Word Ministries where hundreds of teens and adults had life changing experiences.

Even though he has had all the experiences he was never really comfortable with the organizational structure of the modern church. Ray believes that God is doing great things as He always has through His church and the organization serves the purposes of advancing the kingdom of God. But he believes that many Christians today, some in church and some who don't attend church, are victims of performance based teachings that cause them to feel unaccepted by God and alienated from the church.

It's through all of these experiences and training that he has seen a great need for integrity in what is taught. Even though the church is advancing the kingdom of God and he believes is what makes our country strong, he sees a great vacuum in the life's of many Christians. There is a great need for a return to relationship with God to break the shame and guilt that so many Christians carry even though they are basically good people, doing what they can to be like Jesus.

Ray is a pastor in Sherman Texas where he lives with his wife and 6 children. He has now dedicated his life and ministry to bringing basic truth back to those who have been disillusioned by religion and religious attitudes that pervade all societies.

Ray receives testimonies on a regular bases concerning many lives that have been radically changed from the teachings in his newsletters around the world.

Ray demonstrates, whether in written or oral form, impeccable communication skills. He is one of the finest minds I have ever taught both in reasoning, analysis, understanding of key issues, and the rare ability to write with clarity in a scholarly manner.

Ray Matthews has the ability to perform/communicate in an exceptional (A+) manner. In fact, he may be the best student/young minister I have ever taught.
